Friday the kids and I met Mom in Albany, Ga for a little lunch date and some outside playtime. As always, we had so much fun and were sad to leave. We ate a quick lunch and then made our way over to Chehaw Park to see some animals and play on the playground. Maddox loved getting to see all of the animals up close... he had a ball! Maclain was a trooper the entire trip and had fun hanging out in the stroller for the zoo and the Moby for the playground. I am so thankful I am able to enjoy such special times with our kids! (Warning: LOTS of pictures ahead...)

Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day has been a fabulous one! I woke up to a handmade card beside the bed from my sweetie... very thoughtful and special! I also got the pleasure of getting to babysit a friend's little 8 month old boy, Charlie, today. He came over around 10:00 and got to play until about 4:00. He was such a sweetie and we enjoyed having him over here today. Things were crazy at times with 3 kids under 2 in the house, but everything went pretty well and I was even able to get all of them down for their afternoon nap at the same time! Yay!! Maddox is a little obsessed with a children's video that I let him watch online about baking a cake, so I told him we were gonna bake cupcakes today and he was excited beyond words! He loves to "help" so I tried to let him do what he could...

Movie Night

Daniel and I decided to start a little monthly tradition. We thought it would be fun to have a family movie night once a month. We were not sure if Maddox is old enough to be able to sit through an entire movie yet and we thought he might not be all that interested... we were wrong! He loved every minute of it and got so excited when we told him what we were going to do. Our couch has a pull-out bed in it, so we pulled the bed part out and threw tons of blankets and pillows on it and all hopped on. I checked Red Box and decided our first movie would be Winnie the Pooh. Of course all 3 Red Box places Daniel checked on his way home from work were out of it, so I ended up going through my stash of VHS movies I have from when I was teaching. We decided on...

Maddox loved the movie and sat right in between me and Daniel the whole time... it was really cute! Maclain slept most of the time on me in the Moby... her favorite spot!

Maddox's Toddler Bedding

Since we now know that Maddox loves his new bed and we are sticking to the change, I am determined to make some cute bedding for him. I only found one bedding set that I liked when I was looking to buy... boys bedding is not always all that cute (in my opinion)... or it's super expensive! So I did some figuring and I should be able to make it for just under what I was going to pay to buy some. I ordered the fabrics last night. I am making a pillowcase, fitted bed sheet, and quilt. Maddox loves all things, cars, trucks, planes, etc... I fell in love with the Ann Kelle "Ready, Set, Go" collection as soon as I saw it, so I chose these 3 prints from her collection:

The next three fabrics will break up the busyness of the prints:

I think the bedding will look really cute once it's all put together... I can't wait to get started on it!

Sewing Projects

Here are a couple of sewing projects I have done lately... I think having a girl is going to make me expand my repertoire:

The first dress I gave away as a gift for a baby shower. The 2nd one I finished up today and I think I am going to keep it for Maclain. I am having a lot of fun trying out different patterns. I am trying to limit myself though... I could spend a small fortune on sewing stuff each month!

Dave Ramsey Envelopes

A while back, I mentioned that we were doing the Dave Ramsey plan. Part of this plan is paying for everything out of cash envelopes. When we first started, I just used plain, regular envelopes. By the end of the month they were so ragged and worn-out looking. I wanted to do something cute... so I made my own envelopes. We only do 3 envelopes... groceries, restaurants, and miscellaneous. Obviously, the miscellaneous category is a big one since it is anything "extra" for the month... shopping, gifts, random things, etc...

The first time I made the envelpoes, I only had time to make 2 of the 3, so for the 3rd I used a plain envelope (for the restaurants category). After accidentally leaving the envelope at Chick-fil-A last night after dinner, I decided it was time to make one for restaurants that would stand out a little more and not blend in to the white napkins on the table. I went ahead and remade all of them so they would match. I also decided to monogram them this time so it's easier to tell which envelope belongs to which category. I love how they turned out...

One of Maddox's buddies had his 2nd birthday party today. It was a barnyard theme and they even had live chickens running around in the backyard. It was a blast and Maddox had so much fun! I am so thankful that I have met other moms with kids Maddox's age for us to get together with. Being at Isaac's party today made me even more ready for Maddox's party next month! Can't wait!!

Baby Showers

Last weekend, the kids and I traveled home for two of my friends' baby showers. I was so glad that Maddox and Maclain traveled well and that the trip went smoothly. We left early Thursday morning and got in town in time to meet my family for lunch. My mom kept both kids that afternoon for me while I went to the dentist. Then on Friday, Dad kept Maddox and April kept Maclain for my mom and I to go outlet shopping in Locust Grove, GA. It took about 2 hours to get there... we had never been before and were very impressed! They had great deals and we can't wait to go back!

The shower was lovely and it was so nice to be able to reconnect with all of my Auburn buddies! As luck would have it, Amy ended up going into labor the next night and she gave birth to sweet Lucy Katherine Willis on Monday morning. It ended up working out great for me b/c I was able to meet her before we left Opelika to head back home...

We Have a 2 Month Old!

Maclain is 2 months old today... she is doing great and growing well. We had her doctor's appointment this afternoon and she was 10 pounds, 2 ounces (25%), and 21 3/4 inches long (25%). She took her shots like a little champ! Here are a few things I want to remember about this age:
-Goes to bed at 10:00 and is only eating once during the night now, usually somewhere between 3:00-5:00. She has slept through the night twice now, but is not consistent yet
-Wearing a size 1 diaper and 0-3 month clothes
-Eats every 3-4 hours during the day and takes 4-5 ounces at each feeding
-Loves to be held and cuddled
-Most naps right now are either in her carseat or swing, or on me (if I want to sneak in a nap too!)
-Smiles a lot now... started doing this around 1 month old

2 Months

We are so blessed to have 2 healthy, happy kiddos! :)

22 Months Old!

Today Maddox is 22 months old... I really can't believe it! He seems to have done so much "growing up" in the last couple of months... he is turning into such a little boy and I absolutely love it! He is such a sweet, smart, funny child and we love him dearly! He keeps us on our toes, and is the most precious little boy ever (in my opinion) :)

Not too many big changes since his last big post, but here are some things I want to remember:

-Still in size 5 diapers, 18 month pants, and 24 month-2T shirts
-Sleeps 11ish hours at night and takes a 2-3 hour afternoon nap
-His favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me" and he will randomly start singing it on his own... I love it!
-He can count to ten, although he skips right from 4 to 8 most of the time :)
-Still only has his pacis at night and we are planning to be rid of them my 2 years old.
-His favorite tv characters right now are Elmo, Grover, Thomas, and Barney
-His favorite toy is any kind of train... he especially loves the train table he got for Christmas this year
-The biggest milestone in the last couple of days is this...

We were not originally planning to move Maddox up to a toddler bed until the summer, but I found the bed I had been wanting for a really good deal on Craigslist so we decided to go ahead and buy it. I have also really been wanting to go ahead and redo his room and make it more "toddler" and less "baby". We figured that since he has not been crawling out of the crib or anything, we could give it a try and if it went terribly, we could always put him back in the crib and try again later. We got the bed Saturday afternoon. We told Maddox on the way there what we were going to buy and the whole way there he kept repeating, "big bed, big bed, big bed". He was so excited once we got it home he wanted to get in it immediately. I kept asking him where he wanted to sleep that night.. in the big bed or his crib. He kept saying "big bed" so we decided to try it. He pretty much went right to sleep without getting out. When we went in early Sunday morning to check on him around 7:30, we discovered that the poor thing had fallen out of the bed and was asleep on the floor with his pillow. We both remembered hearing something around 2:00 but did not think that he had fallen out since he never made a whimper or cry. He slept right through it apparently. For his nap yesterday we tried again, but he fell out again so we ended up putting him back in the crib. I went to Target and bought a rail for one side of the bed and then we also moved it up against the wall. We wanted to keep trying since he seemed like he was going to transition really well... we felt like if we waited another 6 months or even a year, that might not be the case anymore. Last night went great. He slept in his "big bed" all night, from about 8:30-7:45. He is napping in it now, so I think we might be in the clear! The rail seems to be doing the trick. We still plan to keep the crib in his room for the next couple of nights just to be sure, but I think he likes it!

Pants

I decided that I wanted to try making Maddox some pants. I first got the idea fom a friend of mine who was working on some pants for her boys with matching appliqued shirts for their birthday. Since Maddox's birthday is only a couple of months away, I decided I would give it a try. My first problem was finding fabric that I liked. There is so much more cute girl fabric out there than boy fabric, but after visiting our local Bernina store, I found just what I was looking for...

Maddox is really into transportation right now so I knew he would love the print. I made my pattern from a pair of his pajama pants (b/c I tend to like a flared leg) and I followed the steps found in this tutorial. It was really easy and straightforward and if I had not cut my elastic too short the first time, they would have only taken about an hour to make.

Now I am just hoping they fit him! :)

Christmas in Pictures

For Christmas this year we hit the road! Maddox and Maclain did awesome on all of the legs of the trip and it went much better than I expected. We left the Friday night before Christmas and spent the night with my family in Opelika. Then on Christmas Eve we drove the rest of the way to Brentwood and stayed there until the Wednesday after Christmas. It was great to be there for a while since we have not been there since May! We had a blast relaxing and spending lots of time with family. We left Wednesday after lunch and spent the rest of the week in Opelika. We had the best Christmas this year and are so thankful for our families!

1 Month Stats

Today I took Maclain for her 1 month checkup. She did not have to get shots so that was a relief! She now weighs 8 pounds, 9 ounces and is 21 inches long. She has gained over 3 pounds since she left the hospital so I would say she is a great eater! Here are some things about our little Maclain at 1 month old:

-Is a pretty happy baby and really loves to be held and cuddled

-Still eating about every 3 hours during the day

-Goes to bed around 10:00 each night and is waking up to eat around 1:30 and 4:30

-Travels very well... our road trip to Nashville during Christmas went great!

-Is finishing up our last pack of newborn diapers and moving into a size 1

-Still in newborn clothes, but I think she will be getting into 0-3 months in the next few days

-Has been sleeping in her crib at night since just over 1 week old and is getting better and better at going to sleep on her own without always being rocked, etc...

-Loves her paci during the day but does not really use it at night much

-Smiling more and more these days and definitely recognizes my face. I love this!

-Beginning to coo and interact a little more

-Still sleeps a lot during the day... mostly in her swing or in her carseat during/after errands

We have survived the first month and I have to say it's been easier this time than it was the first. We love our little girl so much and can't wait to see her grow even more!

Afternoon Fun

This afternoon we decided to take advantage of the warmer temps. and spend some time playing outside. The people that lived in our house before us left us their sandbox and Maddox has really started to enjoy playing in it. Maclain held down the fort in her bouncer on the porch, while I was able to sit outside with them and skim through a magazine... the first time that has happened in A WHILE! :) As much as I love cold weather this time of year, warmer weather sure is nice when you want to be outside with 2 kiddos!

Preschool

At the beginning of January, Maddox is going to be starting at our church's preschool 2 mornings a week. I am so excited about this and I know that he will love it! He gets so excited about going to his Sunday school class every week and he loves his class on Wednesday nights at church. Maddox has always been a creature of habit and does really well with a schedule, routine, structure, etc... He likes to know what is coming next. We decided to let him start preschool here since he is already familiar with everything and everyone since it is at our church. Plus, this will give me some time each week to spend with Maclain and to possibly get some things done that are tough to do with a toddler in tow. He starts in just a couple of weeks, so be looking for a "first day of school" post very soon! :)

Christmas in Tallahassee

On Sunday morning, we celebrated out first "Christmas" of this season... and our first one living in Tallahassee. We mainly just did Santa for the kiddos that morning and let them see all of their stuff. We are not going to be in town on actual Christmas, so we ended up doing Santa early. This year was so much fun because Maddox is at an age where he really got into it. We had talked it up to him and he was so excited about everything Santa brought him. Don't judge - we didn't lay out all of Maclain's stuff this year because she has already used most of it... next year will be a different story. :)

More Fun With Lights

There is a house in Tallahassee that has some crazy Christmas lights. You may have seen the video before on youtube. The lights are linked with a radio station and they go along with the songs being played. It is really neat and so we decided to take Maddox tonight. We had so much fun and Maddox loved it! I think we will be doing this every year!

Weight Check

I took Maclain in to the doctor this morning for a weight check. Since she started off so small I wanted to be sure she is gaining weight like she should. She weighed in at 6 pounds and 10.8 ounces... which is exactly how much Maddox weighed when he was born. They said she is right on track and that at this age babies should be gaining 1/2-1 ounce per day. It gave me the peace of mind that I needed to know that she is nursing well and getting what she needs. I am so thankful that she is nice and healthy!!

In other news, her umbilical stump fell off a couple of days ago so she got her first "real" bath last night. She was not a huge fan. :) It took Maddox's 6 weeks to come off so I am glad it did not take hers that long! I can't wait until we can bathe them together... it will make our nightly routine a good bit shorter!

Christmas Crafts

This morning we went over to our friend Glenda's for a little playdate. She has 2 kids that are close together in age and one of them is really close to Maddox's age. She had Christmas stickers for them to play with and stick on stockings and snowflakes. The kiddos ate cookies and played for a while and had a great time! I am so thankful for such sweet friends for us to get together with. Maclain was there, but slept through the whole thing!

Tonight Daniel took Maddox to see some Christmas lights at a nearby park. Maclain and I stayed home since it was a walk-through kind of thing. Maddox loves all things Christmas, so we thought he would enjoy getting out and going to look at the lights. Last night we gave Maclain her first bath... she was taking it pretty well until we got her wet. Poor baby! She calmed right down, though, as soon as her Daddy wrapped her up in the towel and snuggled up with her. We love this sweet girl to pieces!

We are ready for her little umbilical stump to fall off so that we can get into the routine of bathing her every night!

Yesterday afternoon Maddox and Maclain had their first ride together in the double stroller. We found this stroller on craigslist so we got it for a super good deal. I love how it has the infant seat attachment so that Maclain can ride all snuggled up in her carseat. I see many morning walks in our future!

First Trip to the Park

Today we finally had a warm enough day to get outside and go to the park for a little while. It was Maclain's first trip out of the house (other than to the doctor or just riding in the car) and I have to say she loved it. Actualy, she slept right through it, so I guess that means she loved it, right?? It was also my first time using the Moby wrap and I am in love! It keeps her so tight on me and she fell right to sleep in it. It felt so good to get outside and get some fresh air!

Lolli is heading back to Tennessee tomorrow and we sure are going to miss her! I am so thankful she has been able to be here for over a week to help us get settled. I know Maddox is going to miss having an extra playmate, too! Thank you, Lolli, for all you have done for us this week! We love you!!

Maclain Elizabeth Mundie

On Friday, November 25th our sweet little Maclain Elizabeth was born. Our day started bright and early, at 4:00 am. Daniel's parents were here to keep Maddox for us and so we headed to the hospital early that morning. I was scheduled to be incuded at 6:00. By the time I got back to a room, got changed and the nurses changed shifts, it was 7:45 until they started the pitocin. I never had pitocin with my first labor, so I was not sure what to expect. I was handling the contractions pretty well and by 10:45 or so they were still a little sporadic. The doctor came in broke my water at about 10:50 and I got my epidural at 11:20. Things really started taking off from there. They had a little trouble placing my epidural at first and I am not convinced it was working exactly as it should b/c I could feel just about everything. I could feel when each contraction was about to start and with each one I had a very strong urge to push. I called the nurse in around 12:30 to make sure everything was ok and sure enough it was time to push. I started pushing somewhere between 12:40-12:45 and our little Maclain was born at 12:58pm. She weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long. She is perfect and we are so blessed to have her in our lives! Maclain is such a laid-back, happy baby so far and for that I am thankful! We love her to pieces and Maddox is starting to warm up to her too! :) The first couple of days he was not so sure but I think he knows she is here to stay now.

She had her first doctor's appointment today and that went great. She is back up to her birth weight now so that means she is nursing well! She had lost 3 ounces in the hospital so I am glad she is back to where she should be. She is one healthy, happy girl and we can't wait to see her little personality develop. I think she looks just like Maddox did when he was born. She has very little hair, but the hair she does have is very blonde. She definitely has her brother's nose and we think she is cute as a button.

The nights have gone well so far. She loves to cuddle so that makes her sleeping anywhere other than on one of us very difficult, but at least she loves to sleep, right? I am having to wake her up for night feedings right now just to make sure she gets what she needs, but the doctor said I only have to do that for another week or two. I am hoping she will continue to sleep well.

Well, that's about all for now. I will add some pictures from her birthday a little later b/c right now I am going to take advantage of Maddox napping and go take one myself. Check back later for pictures! :)

A Big Week Ahead...

We have a very BIG, busy, fun-filled week ahead for our growing family and we could not be more thrilled! Tomorrow is mine and Daniel's anniversary and we will be celebrating 3 years of marriage. These last 3 years have been such a joy and I am so blessed to be able to call Daniel my husband. He is so kind and caring, and he works so hard to provide for our family! I am so thankful to be married to him!

On Wednesday, Maddox will be 20 months old! I know my emotions are crazy right now, but I have found myself thinking so much lately about how much of a blessing it is to be a mom. I love my job more than anything and am so thankful that Maddox is in our lives!

On Thursday, both of our families will be here and we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. There are sooooo many things I am thankful for, but I have to put family right there towards the top of the list. I am so grateful to have such a close family that supports me and is right there with me through everything. I am also grateful to have married into an equally loving family. I love my in-laws so much and appreciate how they have accepted me into their family as their own.

And last, but not least, Friday is the BIG DAY where we will be welcoming our baby girl into this world! We can not wait to meet her and to learn her little personality. I am anxious to know who she will look like and who she will become. We are ready to share her name with everyone and to know that she is healthy. We are ready!

38 Weeks

Today I am 38 weeks... only 1 more week until we meet our little girl! I am so incredibly excited and ready to meet her. I have been trying to picture lately what she might look like, but all I see is Maddox! I still can't grasp that she will actually be a GIRL (even though we have had 5 ultrasounds!). We are ready to meet this little bundle and can not believe we are down to only 7 days. I went for my last appointment yesterday and I have not made any progress since last week. I have been feeling so much better, though, in the last few days! I am still having a lot of pain later in the evening when she is most active, but other than that I am doing ok. Family will start arriving next Wednesday, so we have that to look forward to as well!

Some friends from church offered to keep Maddox for us tomorrow for Daniel and I to go on a date and enjoy some time just the two of us before she makes her arrival. I am so excited about tomorrow and geting to hang out with Daniel alone for several hours. Our anniversary is also next week so tomorrow will double as an anniversary celebration as well.

The time is ticking!!

38 weeks!

Bein' Real

This last week has been hard! When I was pregnant with Maddox I never felt this anxiety that I have developed in the last week. It's not anxiety about the birth or anything like that... I am just getting so uncomfortable and am constantly wondering about Maddox and how he is going to handle everything. I find myself wanting to take a break from him and have some "me" time, but then I feel guilty about that! I have never obsessed about our house being super-duper clean and have not worried about having "everything" done until now. Every night when I go to bed, I am worried about having to call someone in the middle of the night and ask them to come over to sit with Maddox until my family can get here. I am also worried that I will be out in public when I go into labor and if this time is anything like last, that would be miserable.

I am a fairly patient person, but this last little stretch is killing me for some reason. I think already having a child at home has a lot to do with it. I am not as much worried about myself, but I just want Maddox to be taken care of. And I know that he will. We have made great friends here that I would be totally comfortable calling and that I know would treat him as their own. I think I am just nervous about how it all is going to happen. Being induced is not something I am super excited about, but I feel like it is the best decision for us given all of our circumstances.

I go back for my last appointment Thursday and I can't wait to hear what the doctor has to say. I am ready for family to be here to make me feel more comfortable with everything. Basically I think I am just ready. I have things to look forward to each day until she arrives, but it is still hard not knowing when that will be. I never wanted to be an impatient, complaining, pregnant person, but I feel like that's how I have been in the last week or so.

So... I am determined now to try and have a good attitude about everything and to remember that I am not in control. Our sweet little blessing will come when she comes, and there's nothing I can do to change that. Hopefully I will have more to report soon... :)

37 Weeks and Counting

Tomorrow marks 37 weeks for us... hard to believe! I will start by sharing my belly picture:

I took this one myself, hence the reason my arms are not showing... looks kinda funny. Anyway, I went in today for my 37 week appointment. They did another ultrasound (I am not used to so many ultrasounds) and everything looked really good. She is weighing approximately 5 lbs., 13 oz. right now so she should be right on track to weigh around what Maddox did when he was born. I have made some progress since they checked me last.... now 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and 0 station (head can't get any lower!). I only have 1 more appointment... my last one is scheduled for next Thursday and if she has not come on her own yet, I am still planning to be induced on the 25th. So while all of you avid shoppers are getting your Black Friday deals,you can think of me laboring away in the hospital! :)

I am feeling pretty good for this point in the pregnancy. I had to take off my wedding rings a couple of days ago b/c they were getting uncomfortable to take on and off. I am hoping not to gain any more weight with this pregnancy than I did with my first. I am about 10 pounds shy of where I ended with Maddox so as long as I don't gain 10 pounds in 2 weeks I should be good! Although I worked right up to the bitter end with Maddox, I guess I have been even more active this time around with keeping up with a 1 year old. I have good nights and bad nights as far as sleeping goes, although lately I have had more good ones than bad (thank goodness!). We still have not put her carseat in the car yet, but let's face it... that only takes about 10 minutes so I think we will be ok! Some days I am feeling really productive and am wanting to get last minute things done, but others I am only wanting to rest. I may have had a couple of Braxton Hicks contractions the other day, but nothing major to report on the labor front.

Last night I got to looking back at my first few months of blog posts from when Maddox was born and it made me so much more excited about giving birth a 2nd time. Now, I am not crazy enough to think it is not going to be hard this time, too. But I do think I am going to adjust to life with 2 better than I did with 1. Going from no babies to 1 was super hard for me, and now I feel like I am in the groove of tending to someone else's needs 24/7. I truly think Maddox is going to be a great big brother and I can't wait to see what he thinks of his sister once she is actually here.

My mom is coming in town tomorrow to be here for my church shower this weekend, and then a week and a half later Daniel's family will be here to stay for a while. I am looking forward to having so much help this time and I am thankful our families are able to spend so much time with us!

This past weekend Maddox and I traveled home for the last time until our sweet girl arrives. Daniel was planning to go with us, but ended up having to work, so we made the trip by ourselves. Maddox did great on the way there and slept most of the way home. I had a baby shower that was thrown by some super sweet ladies from the church I grew up in. We got some very nice, practical gifts for our baby girl and can't wait until she gets here to enjoy them! It was a busy, packed weekend and I am so glad I was able to go. I was not sure at first if my doctor was going to let me travel so close to my due date, but he assured me it was ok and it really helped to take my mind off of the waiting. We were able to eat out a lot, enjoy time with family, go to a cookout and bonfire, and catch up with friends. I always enjoy going back home and I know Maddox does too!

19 Months Old

I never got around to doing an 18 month post, so I will tell you what is going on with Maddox at 19 months. He is the biggest joy and blessing and we love him so much!
-Wearing 18-24 month clothes... although some shirts are 2T
-Has 10 teeth... including 3 molars
-Still in size 5 diaper
-Not a great traveler, unless we use the DVD player
-Only uses paci at nap time now... we weaned him from it at night around 18 months
-Can/will say anything... he repeats everything and remembers things I never dreamed he would be able to remember at this age
-Pretty shy in general, and it takes him a little bit to warm up to new people
-Has to wear extra wide shoes... he does not have very many pairs of shoes for this reason... the ones that come in extra wide are generally pretty expensive and I have to order them
-Transitioned to 1 nap at 18 months old. I think he would have taken 2 naps for longer, but it just made us getting out and doing things much easier with 1 nap. He usually naps for around 2-3 hours.
-Sleeps 10-11 hours at night.
-Still likes to be entertained... does not play very well by himself for long periods of time. He usually wants me right there with him, making it hard for me to get things done other than during his nap time
-Is a very sensitive child... especially if he feels like someone other than me is getting on to him. He gets so sad and it hurts his feelings pretty badly!
-Is pretty cautious in general. He checks things out first before he just dives right in to something new.
-Wants momma for comfort and daddy for rough-housing and lots of fun playtime!
-Repeats things over and over until he feels like you are listening, "I draw, I draw, I draw, I draw...I play, I play, I play, I play..."
-Loves being outside but not super interested in outside toys... mostly wants to play in the dirt with sticks :)
-Obsessed with Baby Einstein "Numbers" DVD right now and he can count to 3 (if we get him started by saying 1)
-Knows most animal sounds and names... really likes owls, bulls and donkeys at the moment.

And finally, Maddox will become a BIG BROTHER this month! We have talked to him a lot about his baby sister and he really seems to get it more than we expected. He will point to her things and say, "baby" and will kiss my stomach a lot, too! We went to a music class at the hospital a couple of weeks ago and this new mom came around the corner with her newborn and he looked at the baby, then at me, and said, "sister?" I think he will do really well as far as being gentle goes. I am a little worried about him learning to share his mommy but we will get there. I am excited to see what this month brings! :)

Trunk Or Treat

Our church had their Trunk or Treat last night and we had a great time! We dressed Maddox up as a dinosaur and I have to admit he was the cutest little thing I have ever seen! :) We practiced what to do with him ahead of time and he didn't seem to get it. Well, by about the 2nd or 3rd trunk he came to, he finally realized that all he had to do was walk up to cars and they would put this giant bowl of candy in front of him for him to dig through... then he was hooked! He had a blast and so did we!

Tonight we are headed out to some friends' house for dinner and then some more trick or treating! Happy Halloween!! :)

We Have A Plan

I went back to the doctor today for my ultrasound. They wanted to check my fluid levels and check to see how much our baby girl is weighing right now. The fluid levels were really good and as of now, she is weighing right at 4 lbs., 11 oz. My doctor said she is right on track to weigh about what Maddox did when he was born... 6 lbs., 10 oz. They did the Group B Strep test and also checked for dilation.... right now I am 1 cm dilated and he said my "cervix is very soft". Sorry if that is TMI but there ya go! He also asked if we had thought any more about induction and I told him that we wanted to go ahead and be put on the schedule for 39 weeks. I feel better having a plan since we don't have family in town that can come right over and tend to Maddox should I go into labor in the middle of the night like last time. She could very well come on her own before then, but if not, it looks like we will have a November baby rather than a December one. I am scheduled to be induced the day after Thanksgiving, November 25th. Now that we have a plan she will probably choose something different just like her brother did. The day after we set up the induction with Maddox I went into labor on my own, so we will see what happens. Now I am trying to decide whether I should go ahead and travel to Opelika next weekend for my shower like I was planning to. I guess I will have to play it by ear and see how things go. Either way, we will have our little girl in 4 weeks or less!! :)

34 1/2 Weeks

I can not believe we are at this point. Where did the time go??

I had my 34 week appointment last Thursday and everything was pretty much on track. I was measuring a tad smaller than last time and the doctor is going to do an ultrasound this week just to check her weight and make sure she is head down like he thinks she is. I have noticed feeling a lot more pressure the past couple of weeks that I do not remember feeling with Maddox, although it's possible I have just forgotten what the end felt like with him. The doctor has given me the option to be induced the day after Thanksgiving, but I have not decided about that yet. I am going to wait until closer to time to make that decision and see how I am progressing on my own first. I have mixed emotions and don't know what to think about it right now. It would be so nice to know when everything will happen, but at the same time I enjoyed Maddox coming on his own. Time will tell. I am beginning to get tired very easily and have noticed a drop in my energy in the last week or so. Overall, things are good and we can't wait to meet our baby girl soon... and to finally tell her name! ;)

Reunited

On Tuesday, 2 of my best friends came into town with their boys to see us. I had been looking forward to this visit since we moved and was so glad that they came! We had a nice, relaxing time (considering we had 3 toddler boys!) and it was so good to get to catch up with them for longer than an hour or two! We took the boys to the park, to the mall, to the library, and played outside some, too! Thanks, girls, for coming to see us and please do it again soon! Maddox already misses his friends! :)

Onesie Dress

I have not been making very many things (other than nursery stuff) for our little girl, mostly because I have had no clue what I wanted to make. I've browsed tutorials and looked at patterns and had the hardest time finding something I wanted to make. After putting a couple of different ideas together, this is the first dress I have made for our little girl...

I took a onesie I already had and the leftover fabric from her curtains and this is what I came up with. I hope that the size is right for her to wear in Spring or Summer. I am looking forward to trying out different dresses for her.

Pumpkin Patch 2011

Like, really bad! Isn't it so simple and cute?? Since moving, I have been wanting a new wreath for our front door, but they are just so expensive! So yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and got everything I needed to make my own... for only $6.00! You just can't beat that price! I worked on it yesterday and last night, and here is the finished product:

I am in love with this thing and can't wait to hang it on our front door. It was super easy and really fun to make. You could do it in any color combination and do as many or as few flowers as you'd like. You should try one!! :)

Maddox and I drove over to Panama City yesterday around lunchtime to meet my parents for a couple of nights. We are headed back tomorrow, but I just wanted to share a few pics from today on the beach. Maddox HATED the sand when we were here in June so I was glad to see him having more fun!

Car Seat Canopy

I have been wanting to make a car seat canopy for our little girl. I came across this tutorial, and thought a December baby would be great for one of these since I will be getting out with her in the cold a good bit. It was really easy to make and a lot cheaper than buying one. Maddox took a super long afternoon nap yesterday so I was able to get it done. I ended up tweaking a couple of things from the original tutorial, but I really like how it turned out and can't wait for her to use it!

Park Days

The park in our neighborhood has been closed for renovations since we moved here, and it finally opened back up shortly after Labor Day. We have gone the past 2 days and Maddox loves it! They have a huge, open, grassy field that is great for picnics or letting kids or dogs run free and several nice playground areas. Maddox even got brave and ventured up to the tallest slide and came down all by himself. What a big boy he is now! I am loving it!

And thankfully our air is fixed now, too, so we are enjoying the cooler weather inside and outside! Yay! :)

Thankful

This has been one C.R.A.Z.Y. week for us and I have to say, I am not sad to see it go! It all started Tuesday evening when we realized that our air had quit working. Boo! It has been in the 90's all week this week so you can imagine how brutal it has been. To make a very long story short, we are still without air and I am not sure how much longer we will be. Hopefully it will be fixed toward the beginning of the week (I am hoping for Monday!).

Then, I experienced the scariest moment of my life on Friday since I have become a mother. I was on my way to take Maddox to this new music class that I have been wanting to try out. On the way he started coughing and got choked a little and threw up. This is very normal for him b/c he has always had a terrible gag reflex. So I pulled over to see how bad it was and decided that we needed to head back home. We pull into the garage and I start taking his car seat apart so that I can wash it. In the meantime, Maddox came across a spray bottle of Rain-X Bug and Tar Remover in the garage and sprayed it into his mouth, and all over his chest and face. I knew he had swallowed some because he immediately dropped the bottle and came running to me coughing. At first I was not sure what he had sprayed but I could tell it was some sort of chemical by the smell. I immediately went into panic mother mode and scooped him up and frantically started looking for my phone. I called 911 and they transferred me to poison control and the lady calmly talked me through what to do. Maddox ended up being fine, but I was a wreck! I felt so terrible and could not believe I had let that happen. The poison control lady even called back a little later to check on him and make sure he was still ok.

So, even after the horrible week we had last week, I am still thankful. I am thankful that Maddox is ok and that he was not hurt. That situation could have been a whole lot worse. I am also thankful for the cooler weather we have had today since we are STILL without air. We have had a nice, quiet family day today complete with a breakfast date at Chick-fil-A and grocery shopping. We got to enjoy a nice dinner with some friends and are looking forward to church tomorrow.

One thing I forgot to mention in all the craziness of the week was that my super cute husband had a birthday Thursday. He is absolutely the most low-maintenance guy in the world and he didn't want a big hoopla. But I have to say how thankful I am for him and his hard work ethic, honesty, and loyalty. I love him more than words can say and I am so glad I get to go through this life with him!

I am beginning to wonder if Fall is a season here. The temps. are still in the 90's and that is difficult when you are 30 weeks pregnant and have a toddler that wants to be outside. I decided that today I would grin and bear it for his sake and we would spend some quality time outside. Maddox was sweating about 2 seconds after we got outside and I was too. But he had a great time nonetheless. And I love it when he has a great time so we will probably do it again tomorrow. :)

First Haircut

Last week, the day before Maddox turned 18 months old, Mom and I took him to get his first haircut. Bless his heart... ever since we moved to Tallahassee I have gotten so many comments about how cute "she" is. So I felt like it was time. He had great curls, but the sides were definitely out of control to say the least. So she cut his "wings" and trimmed up the back. I think he looks so handsome and like a little boy now. I love it!

Wild Animal Safari

On Tuesday, Mom and I took Maddox to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Ga. I had not been since I was little and we knew it was something Maddox would love doing! He had such a great time getting up close and personal with the animals. He LOVES naming animals and making their noises so it was perfect for him! We drove one of their cars through and the animals were literally sticking their heads through the window trying to get to the food. We had a blast and can not wait to go back sometime! Wedding Weekend

On Saturday Daniel's younger brother, Brandon, got married. It was probably the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to and the weather could not have been better! It was so nice to get to see all of Daniel's family since we had not seen most of them since May! I did not take many pictures myself since I was a part of the wedding so some of these are "stolen" from other people. The day was so perfect and they are having a blast in St. Lucia now. I wish them the very best and know they will experience a lifetime of happiness!

Finished Quilts

Several posts back, I mentioned that I was waiting on my fabric to come in for the little boy quilt that I wanted to make. Well, I tend to be an impatient person and when I decide I want to do something, I want to do it right then. So I went to the fabric store and bought some fabric to make our little girl's quilt in the meantime. It does not match her bedding, but I plan to use it as more of a playmat anyway. Here is the finished product:

Hers is made from several Amy Butler prints and I can't wait for her to use it!! A couple of days later, the other fabric came in and I got to work on the boy quilt. I have to say I LOVE the prints in this one and it is probably my favorite of the two:

Playground Fun

After Maddox's nap today, we decided to check out one of the nearby playgrounds. There is an elementary school right around the corner so we waited until school was out and headed over that way. He had a great time and did not want to leave. It was still a little hot for my liking, but a beautiful day regardless!

Hello 3rd Trimester

Tomorrow marks 28 weeks for me. Wow. In roughly 12 weeks our world will change yet again. Are we ready?? I have no idea. But I do know this is all happening so fast! I went for my checkup today and things were great! I took Maddox along for the first time and he was a little champ... especially considering it was right during his nap time. Our baby girl was right on track and they now want me to come every 2 weeks. Crazy, I know! I remember with Maddox that once we hit the "going every 2 weeks mark" time only seemed to speed up from there.

We plan to work in the nursery this weekend and get things a little more ready. We need to paint a bookcase and start to go through and organize some of her little clothes. Last night I made her initials to hang above the crib and I can't wait to get them on the wall. I love the room color and how it fits right in with the bedding. Hopefully I can post some pictures soon! :)

Feelin Like Fall/Bedding Addition

Today the weather outside was FABULOUS! We got outside and went for a morning walk and were outside several more times throughout the day. I love Fall weather and am thankful to know that we can experience it in Florida, too! Maddox loved playing outside!

Quilt

For a while now I have been wanting to try to make a quilt. I have watched tutorials online and talked to a few people and have decided to give it a try. I am going to practice with a baby boy quilt. If it turns out ok, I may give it as a gift to a friend that will be having a little boy in November and then get to work on one for our little girl. Yesterday I ordered my fabric and here are the different prints that will be in the quilt:

I love these different fabrics and think it will be cute for a little boy! The fabric shipped yesterday so it should be here soon. I hope I am not getting in over my head!

26 1/2 Weeks

I am 26 1/2 weeks along now and am feeling great! I have a lot of energy at this stage and hope that it keeps up! I feel like I am getting really, really big very fast which scares me a little b/c I still have a ways to go! I don't know how I am going to walk at the end if I am this big now. There's not really much to report which is a good thing. I go back to the doctor September 8th and I'll be 28 weeks. I think my doc told me that I will start going every 2 weeks around 30 weeks. This will be my first appointment to take Maddox to so we'll see how that goes. The 3rd trimester is right around the corner! We plan to paint the nursery on Labor Day so then I will begin putting everything together. I still don't really have a total vision for her room, but I know it will come together just fine. Everything is just moving right along!

Weekend Project

On Thursday Maddox and I headed to Opelika to spend the weekend with my family and go to a friend's wedding. We had such a great time and got to have lots of quality time with family. Daniel decided to stay here for a couple of reasons. One was that he was going to get to work on the headboard for our room. Well, he called me Saturday afternoon to tell me that he had finished it and he was pleased with how it turned out. He sent me a picture (I loved it!) and I could not wait to get back and see it in person:

I think it really ties in the wall color with the bedding and I could not be happier with the finished product. I am going to make some pillows this week to go on the bed to give it a more finished look. Our next project is the bedside tables. We plan to do floating shelves that attach to the wall rather than an actual piece of furniture. This is kind-of what I have in mind...

Like I mentioned before, the house is still a work in progress but it is beginning to come together! Stay tuned for more updates!

It happened...

One of the first few days after we moved here, Maddox saw a lizard on our back porch and he has never forgotten about it. My mom told him what it was and since then he says "yiyerd" over and over and looks out the back door to the porch. He has developed a tiny obsession with lizards. I have shown him some pictures of lizards on the computer and I even bought him a set of animal flash cards yesterday just so he could have a picture of a lizard. Well, last night it happened. We went on a walk around the neighborhood and when we got back into the front yard I saw it. There was a lizard crawling up the side of the house. I showed Maddox and he wanted it to come back down so bad. Well, Daniel was able to coax the poor thing down for Maddox to see up close and personal. He actually held it for a little while but by then I was out of space on my memory card. Here are the few pics I got:

Our Baby Girl's Bedding

So I FINALLY got around to finishing the bedding for our baby girl's nursery. I started on it probably 2 months ago and then got to working on some other things so the project got put on the backburner. My goal this week was to get the bedding done and for us to get the crib put together so we could see what the finished product looked like. Maddox decided to take 2 really good naps yesterday so I got to work. Before I knew it, it was done! I am so happy with the way it turned out. I may order some more fabric for some curtains... I have not decided yet. Here is the finished product:

17 Months

Our sweet little Maddox is now 17 months old. Wow! This morning I was looking at pictures of him from the day he was born and in some ways that seems like an eternity ago, and in other ways it seems like yesterday. Either way, we will be doing it all over again in only 3 short months. Yikes!! :) We have been so blessed these past 17 months and Maddox adds so much to our lives. Here are some things about him at this age and stage:

-Sleeps like a champ! Will sleep 11-12 hours at night and still takes two 2 hour naps a day.

-LOVES ketchup! He wants to dip anything and everything in it... he gets this from me and my side of the family!

-Wearing size 5 diapers and 18-24 month clothes, although lately anything I buy is 2T.

-We have weaned him from the paci, except for naps and bedtime.

-Talks ALL THE TIME! He can say pretty much anything you say and listens to everything, too!

-He has an obsession right now with lizards. This is my favorite word that he says... his expression when he says it is priceless!

-Can go up and down our stairs all by himself now. We still stay close by, but he can do it independently.

- Loves puzzles, animals, bubbles, cars, trains, trucks, balls, Barney, Clifford, etc...

-Loves to put tops on things. He will entertain himself for a very long time if I give him an empty sippy cup and top.

-Started walking at 14 months... not sure if I mentioned that in his 15 month post.

-Still a picky eater. Favorites are chicken, turkey, ham, pizza, hot dogs, french fries, bread, anything sweet, bananas, apples, grapes, and the occasinal strawberry. We still have not found a vegetable he will eat yet.

-Loves eating with a fork, and will try most anything if he uses his fork.

-Still has not had a haircut yet. We have had so many people think that he is a girl since we have moved, but I don't want to cut his curls! Maybe after his 18 month pictures?? :)

-Is a creature of habit and does very well with a schedule.

-Loves his milk and still only drinks milk and water.

-Can find most of his body parts when we ask him. His favorite is his belly button and he wants to start with that one all the time.

-Is pretty clingy and does not like going to other people. This makes church difficult!

I am sure there are tons of other things I am leaving out, but these are the main things! Overall, Maddox is a very sweet, loving little boy and Daniel and I are so lucky so be his parents! We love him so much and can't wait to see the little boy he becomes!

Today we decided to venture over to our neighborhood pool for the first time. Maddox has just now gotten to where he is not afraid of the water so I was ready to take him. Last Friday we went to a friend's pool, but I did not have any floaties for him and all he wanted to do was walk around the outside of the pool. It made me a nervous wreck trying to chase him around without any floaties so earlier this week we got him a puddlejumper. Tucker has one and it works so well... we decided to give it a try and Maddox loved it!

So this was my favorite day of our week so far! We got to do something so fun today! We left around 10:15 this morning and met my mom and grandmother in Albany, Ga for lunch and some shopping. It was only about an hour and a half drive for us, and about 2 hours for them. Not too bad! We had lunch at Logan's and then went to the mall for some more fun. It was sooooooo nice getting to see them again (even though it's only been 2 weeks!). It has felt like much longer than that! Maddox had a great time at the mall until he decided he had had enough and was ready for a nap. I can't wait to have a day like this again soon!!

I had my first appointment with my new doctor, Dr. McAlpine, last Thursday. It is a clinic that is very similar to Lee O.B. so I felt right at home there. All of the staff was super friendly and made me feel like I had been a patient there forever. I got to have another ultrasound (yes, she's still a girl!) so that was a lot of fun. I was measuring just slightly ahead of my due date and our litte girl weighed in at 1 pound 7 ounces. She is in the 44th percentile so far, which they said was right on track. Everything looked great and I was so excited to get to see her again since I have never had an ultrasound that far into my pregnancy before. I have to go back tomorrow to have some bloodwork done and have my glucose test so I am leaving Maddox with a friend down here that has 2 little girls for him to play with. I don't think it has hit me yet that we are actually going to have 2 kiddos very soon! Exciting (and stressful) times ahead!!

Today we ventured out to Governor's Square Mall to meet someone from a church we visited the first Sunday we were here. I had not been that far on the other side of town yet, but I was looking forward to going to this new mall. I guess in my mind I was expecting something like the mall I was used to in Auburn, but it was so different. It was 2 stories with soooo many stores. A very nice mall for sure!! We ate lunch, did a little shopping, and then they had this really cool play place for toddlers in the middle of the mall so we let Maddox run off some energy there. He had a blast and so did we! It was so nice getting out of the house for a while and doing something different. We will definitely be back there again soon!

Grandparents

Grandparents are one of the greatest blessings life has to offer. Maddox has been lucky enough to have had both sets of his grandparents here since Thursday when we moved. My parents stayed until Sunday and Daniel's parents came in Saturday and left today. It was so sad (to say the least) to see them go, but we are so thankful that they were able to be here for as long as they were to spend some time with us and help us get somewhat settled. I never did get a picture of Maddox with my parents... shame on me... but I did get a really cute one right before Lolli and G left to go back to Nashville after a yummy lunch at Moe's. After several attempts, here is the best one...

We are still getting settled and things are a work in progress. I will post pictures of the inside a little later. I can't bring myself to post a picture when there is nothing on the walls to make it feel like home. On the Move

In less than 24 hours, the U-Haul will be packed and we will be spending our last night in our house. While it is definitely bittersweet, we are looking forward to getting to Tallahassee and settling in there. We have packed and packed and packed some more. Almost all of the boxes are taped and labeled, and they are just waiting to be loaded. Tomorrow morning will consist of washing sheets, towels, and the rest of the clothes. Daniel and I will be pulling out the air mattress tomorrow night while Maddox will be living it up toddler style at my parents' house. I am so ready to be unpacked and unloaded!!! It's madness around here...

In less than 48 hours we will be florida residents... how crazy is that??

Good Ol' Dave

We have always done fairly well with making a budget and sticking to it most months, but this last month we decided to incorporate another element of Dave Ramsey's plan. We wanted to see if it would make a difference if we started doing the envelope system. I was hesitant at first, but I have to say, I LOVED it! We took out cash at the beginning of the month for the 3 categories we have the most control over... groceries, restaurants, and miscellaneous. I found myself planning a lot better and thinking more about the month as a whole before I spent money. It makes a big difference to me psychologically to hand over cash for something rather than just swiping my debit card. We ended up with $5.00 left over at the end of the month so I would say it was a success!

Sometimes I get to feeling down about all the budget stuff, but I have to keep reminding myself that a budget is useless unless you stick to it. I know we won't have to do this forever, but for now it seems to be helping my mindset. Can't wait to see how month #2 goes!

Today some of my really good friends from share group threw me a baby shower. It was so sweet of them to think of me and everything was so perfect! They know me so well b/c we definitely had Chick-fil-A nuggets that I ate WAY too many of... my favorite!!! I love having this group of girls in my life and I am so thankful for their friendship! They are the best and I am going to miss them so much!

Yesterday Maddox and Cooper had a playdate at my parents' pool. Cooper had never been in the pool before and Maddox has not been a fan of it in the past. But they both did really well and had fun playing together. Maddox is getting more and more used to the water so it looks like we might be able to take advantage of our neighborhood pool in Tallahassee after all! After swimming, they played inside for a little bit before heading home to take naps. We are going to miss our frequent playdates but rest assured they will still happen (right Lydia??) :)

Weekend Fun

This weekend was such a fun one... I had been planning a girls' weekend for months and it was a blast! 4 of us mommies from church had a little getaway in Atlanta complete with manicures, pedicures, Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, IKEA, games, girl talk, etc... It was a much needed break and so much fun to get to spend time with my mommy friends before we move. But as much fun as we all had, I was so ready to get back and see Daniel and Maddox. They had some great bonding time while I was away, but I missed them both a lot! So this afternoon we had a little fun outside with the water hose. Maddox does great in his bathtub, but is not very fond of pools, sprinklers, etc. I went outside to water the flowers and he kept getting closer and closer to the water until eventually he decided to just go all in. Maybe the pool will be next??

Last weekend Maddox got to spend the weekend with his grandparents in Nashville. He had never been there without us, so we thought it would be fun for Lolli and G to spend some time with him alone before we move. He had a great weekend and was really good (so I hear!). ... of our life for the next 2 1/2 weeks!

We probably should have started long before now, so this will be our life for the next little while... packing and dodging boxes all day long! We got started Saturday night and I have to say, it was a lot of fun!! Lolli and G took Maddox for the weekend and gave us some time to get things together and have a weekend to ourselves. We cranked up the music and got started with the kitchen. I never dreamed we would have 15 boxes JUST from the kitchen, but I guess we have more stuff than I realized. We decided to tackle the toughest room first and it only took us about 2 hours... not too bad! I guess there are benefits to having a small house after all! :) Progress is being made!

I am nearing the halfway mark, now and am finally feeling pregnant. I have felt pregnant from the very beginning as far as sickness goes, but because I have been so sick, I have not felt like I looked pregnant until very recently. I have finally gotten energy back and it feels great! I am feeling her move more and more and love the way it feels so much! I only have one more appointment with my doctor here before we move. I am a little nervous about changing doctors and delivering at a different hospital, but I guess that's all a part of it! Our sweet little girl will be here before we know it! :)

Crib Skirt

I got to work on the crib skirt this morning and I finished it this afternoon... I had no idea what to expect since I have never made one before. But I have to say it really was not hard at all. I followed a tutorial a friend sent me, and went from there. I am going to be able to make all of the bedding for around $80.00 or less... super exciting!!! I had never sewn pleats before so I was nervous about that part but they turned out so good! Here is the progression of the project...

I fully expect the bumper to be a LOT more complicated! I hope to get started on it soon! More pictures to come!

Fort Morgan

Yesterday, we got back from the beach with my family. It was the most fun, relaxing trip we have taken in a while. We went to Fort Morgan, Alabama and it was gorgeous!! We had never been there before and were amazed at how secluded and uncrowded the beach was... just our style! We loved every minute of the trip and wish we could have stayed longer! Maddox is NOT a fan of the beach or sand, but he still had a great time playing in the house and outside on the deck. I even got to read a whole book while we were there, which rarely happens these days! I also discovered that you can definitely get sunburned while totally out of the sun and under an umbrella... not fun! We had a blast and I can not wait to go back in the Fall.

15 Months Old

This little stinker turned 15 months old yesterday. What a mess he is! We had his check up a little bit ago and here are his stats:

-Weight: 24 pounds, 12 ounces
-Height: 30.75 inches
-Head Circumference: 18.75 in

He is between the 50th and 75th percentile and looking great! His 4 teeth that were coming in at his 12 month check up are STILL in the process of coming in... that explains a LOT about his moods lately! It takes this poor child a super long time to get those teeth in!! Poor thing (actually poor mommy and daddy!). But overall he is doing wonderful! In only 5 short months he will become a big brother... how crazy is that?

And as mentioned on facebook, we ended up having another ultrasound Wednesday and found out that we are having a GIRL this time! We are so thrilled and can not wait to see what life is like with a baby girl. There are so many exciting changes ahead in the coming months and we are so ready!

Baby Mundie #2

So, we were unable to find out if baby Mundie #2 is going to be a boy or girl. However, we were able to find out the most important information.... that he or she is perfectly healthy so far and doing great! The heart rate was 143 and everything looked perfect. The baby was incredibly low and in a curled up position that made it impossible to tell the sex. It's funny, though, because several people have asked if we were disappointed. But to be honest, I really wasn't. There was a small part of me from the beginning that wanted to wait until the birth to know. I did not think I would have the patience for it, but now knowing that we might not be able to find out makes me think differently. There would be something so special about that moment!! So, here is what we have decided. We personally do not feel that it is worth the money to have a 4d ultrasound. So we know that we are not going to do that. But if the doctor I go to in Tallahassee wants to do an ultrasound when we get there, we might find out then. If they choose not to do an ultrasound since I have already had one here, then we will be perfectly fine not knowing... I really think it is exciting not to know! Anyway, here are some precious pictures of our little one:

In other baby news, I began feeling the baby move last night. It was really exciting to know that he/she is doing great in there! And tonight, I was sitting on the couch and was feeling it move, and not really thinking Daniel would be able to feel it I asked him to try anyway. But he was actually able to feel it after al! It was the neatest thing b/c I don't think he was able to feel it this early with Maddox. Very exciting!!

...we now know where we will be living in Tallahassee! We went down there a week and a half ago to look at houses, and boy did we take advantage of our 2 days of looking. We had been looking for weeks online and narrowed our search down to 11 houses. We packed all of the looking into a day and a half, and out of all the houses, we both quickly agreed on a favorite. We were not totally positive we wanted to buy since we have not sold our house here yet, so what we ended up doing was putting in an offer with a contingency... which means the owners are going to let us rent the house for the first couple of months, giving us more time to sell our house. When we got home we immediately decided to drop the price of our house significantly, in hopes that it would sell more quickly. So, needless to say, we are praying hard that someone comes along and wants our house SOON. If not, I think we are just going to rent it for a year or so and reevaluate the situation later. I have tried throughout this whole process not to get too emotionally invested, just in case it didn't work out for us, and I think I did a pretty good job. The whole thing was a mess and we never could seem so come to an agreement with the seller. So we ended up walking away and said that we were going to look at other options. I had a feeling they would come back and accept our offer and sure enough, that's exactly what they did. Soooo...... here are some pictures of our future home!! We will be moving early August.

This is what I got to see when I went in to get Maddox up from his morning nap today. Typically, I am not a fan of waking up a sleeping baby but today it was necessary b/c we had several errands to run, and I also wanted him to take a good long afternoon nap before going to night #2 if VBS. I just love the expression of a sleeping baby... (especially mine!)

One of the things we did while we were out was go to Home Depot to get some paint. Maddox really enjoyed his first "car ride" in the store...

A Big Deal

This picture is not nearly as big a deal to anyone reading this as it is to me. But trust me... this IS a big deal! We have had serious eating habit issues since Maddox has been off of baby food. I am talking NO fruit of any kind and NO vegetables of any kind. Period. End of story. The word picky does not do this situation justice. But I have to say, once we figured out that he does not want small pieces of anything, it got better. He wants the whole thing... whatever it may be. He still will not touch a vegetable, but he will eat fruit now. At least now he will eat grapes, apples, a few bites of banana, and a few bites of strawberry.

I vowed a couple of weeks ago that we would do a "boot camp" of sorts. The plan was that he would get what he gets for dinner... whatever we are having... and if he doesn't eat it, then he does not eat. I know it may sound cruel, but we can't give in to his every wish. That will create a monster. So I have to say, we are making progress. Last night he didn't want spaghetti, which was what we were having, and instead if eating any of it, he played with it, careful not to put ANY into his mouth. It was pretty funny actually. But nonetheless, that was all he was offered. Our doctor told us that if he gets hungry enough he will eat anything and I believe her. Maybe vegetables will be next??

Crib Bedding Ideas

We decided that we are not going to move Maddox to a big bed before baby #2 is born. He sleeps so good in his crib, and the last thing I want to do is confuse his sleeping habits 2 months before the new baby is born. But we also did not want to buy a 2nd crib. So, my great friend Lydia's sister had a crib that she wanted to get rid of, so she gave it to us. How sweet was that??? Plus, it is white, so it will give the nursery a different feel than Maddox's room since we did dark furniture for him. I have been thinking for a while, now, that I want to make the new bedding since Maddox will still be using his. I may have narrowed the fabric choices down. Here are the 4 fabrics I will most likely use if we have a girl...

And here are 2 I want to use if we have a boy. I will probably add 2 more fabrics, but will pull solid colors from the main print.

I was reading a friend's blog the other day and saw some crib bedding that she made and it really inspired me to make it! The bumper we have now is 1 long piece, but the new one would be 6 pieces, all tied together. Here is a close up of the general look of this kind of bumper. Isn't it super cute??
I am not going to make a blanket since we still have never used the one that came with Maddox's bedding. So all I will make is the bumper and skirt. I think I better get started as soon as we find out what we are having because I have a feeling it is going to take me a while!!

I think I said about 5 weeks ago that I would start taking belly pictures. Well, clearly that did not happen. But I finally did take one tonight (well, Daniel did). I will be 15 weeks tomorrow. I went back to look and I never did take a 15 week picture last time, so maybe I can compare better at 16 weeks. Anyway, here it is...
I actually feel a bit smaller than I did last time at this point. I was never really sick with Maddox, but I have gotten sick a good bit this time. I also have not had a great appetite in a while. I finally have some energy again, though, so that is good news. We are ready to find out what this little baby is!!

It's Almost Time

...for the big ultrasound! We went to the doctor this morning and everything looked great with the baby! I will be 14 weeks tomorrow and he scheduled our ultrasound for the 20th. So in a little over 2 weeks we will be able to see our little baby and make sure all is well. We'll also get to find out whether it's a boy or girl. We are very excited! Last time, we just called and told everyone right after the appointment, but I am not sure if we'll do it that way this time. I would like to do something more creative, so if you have any ideas, please send them my way!

Kickin' Off Summer

Of course, there is not near as much relaxing as there used to be with kiddos in the picture now, but it's always so much fun. It's Official...

We are moving to Tallahassee, FL sometime late summer. We are so excited that Daniel got this job because it has been his dream for several years now. He will be working with a bridge design company there, and to say he is excited is the understatement of the year! He has worked SO HARD throughout undergrad and graduate school and I am forever thankful that it is paying off for him. As for me, I think there will definitely be a period of adjustment. But I will make it. :) You see, when you have lived in the same small town your entire life, changes like this are tough. But I know this is God's plan for us. I will miss all my friends here, especially my church friends that I see and get together with all the time. They keep me sane on the days I feel like I might lose it, and they offer support and encouragement right when I need it. I just love them! But since we will only be about 2 hours from the beach, I envision lots of get-togethers and reunions in our future...

We are spending some time in Tallahassee soon to go look at houses and hopefully make a decision about that. We have been looking online for a while now and have narrowed the search down a lot. I have been talking to a great realtor down there that is going to spend 2 whole days with us, looking at house after house. I can't wait. I am super excited about this part!

Daniel has been playing on a church-league softball team and when the games are early enough, Maddox and I like to go out and watch him play. I have said this whole season that it will be so much easier to do thing like this with him when he is walking. People tell me I am going to eat my words, but I stand by them whole-heartedly. This child does NOT want me to sit and hold him all the time, or any of the time really. He wants to be DOWN and on the go all the time. Therefore, when he can walk, he won't be crawling in the nastiness at the park or at the softball field, or any other place for that matter. I may be getting my wish soon enough b/c today he has been taking 5-7 steps at a time. Yay!!!
